I FONDALI DELLE DORSALI OCEANICHE THE SEABED OF THE OCEANIC RIDGES Le dorsali oceaniche sono maestose catene montuose sottomarine, le “spine dorsali” del nostro oceano. Mid-ocean ridges are majestic underwater mountains, the backbone of our ocean, where the magma that escapes from the Earth’s crust cools to form new rocks, which contribute to the formation of new ocean floors and pushes the surrounding tectonic plates outwards. The ridges are characterised by deep underwater ridges and manifestations of volcanic and tectonic activity, such as black smokers and hydrothermal vents.
